RAIL users with valid or recently expired passes are being offered free bus travel from Barnsley to Leeds.

Stagecoach’s X10 service runs hourly, seven days a week from Barnsley and stops off at New Lodge, Darton and Kexborough before it uses the M1 to make its way to Leeds bus station.

Customers who present a valid weekly, monthly or longer-term train pass for travel between Barnsley and Leeds this month will be able to travel on the bus for free.

The train pass must be for travel between either Barnsley or Darton and Leeds and the offer includes customers whose weekly, monthly or longer-term tickets expired in December.

John Young, commercial director at Stagecoach, said: “We launched the X10 at the end of October and it has proved to be very popular for commuters travelling for work, people heading into Leeds for a day out shopping plus those looking to enjoy the city’s nightlife.

“After Christmas we know funds are often running low and train fares increase so this will hopefully be a late festive gift to rail passengers who can save money on travel between Barnsley and Leeds.”
