SO-CALLED 'Freedom Riders' say they are celebrating another victory after all charges were dropped against two campaigners who were arrested in June.

The arrests took place during the long-running campaign for the reversal of cuts in travel passes for older people and disabled people.

Tony Nuttall and George Arthur were arrested at Sheffield station in June when they were with a group of about 50 or 60 older and disabled people.

Tony Nuttall was charged with obstructing a police officer and George Arthur with obstruction and fare evasion, and both faced a five-day trial at Sheffield Magistrates' Court.

However, the Crown Prosecution Service has now withdrawn the charges because they believe that 'there is not sufficient evidence to obtain a prosecution'.
