Barnsley's long wait for a goal from open play is over but they fell to a 2-1 loss at Fulham.

Goals from Floyd Ayite and Sheyi Ojo were enough to hand Fulham all the points after Tom Bradshaw had levelled for The Reds in the second half - their first goal from open play since way back on November 18.

Barnsley headed to west London for the second time in a week in a buoyant mood following the completion of the takeover from Chien Lee and Paul Conway earlier in the week.

Ethan Pinnock replaced the injured Matty Pearson in the starting line-up.

Stefan Johansen's early strike tested Adam Davies and Andy Yiadom had to make a strong block in the box.

Fulham continued to enjoy the bulk of the possession but failed to create many clear cut chances in the first half.

Ayite headed wide at the near post and Tom Cairney fired over before Harvey Barnes almost capitalised on Marcus Bettinelli losing control of the ball. Barnes' attempted lob was kept out by the retreating goalkeeper.

Barnsley had defended resolutely and almost went in at the break in front after George Moncur flicked Mamadou Thiam's cross over.

Fulham started the second half with purpose and went ahead on 54 minutes with Ayite firing in from the edge of the box.

Buoyed by that, they almost doubled their advantage with some last-ditch defending needed following a sustained period of pressure.

Wingers Adam Hammill and Lloyd Isgrove were brought on to add to Barnsley's attacks.

The leveller came as a result of left-back Yiadom, whose perfectly clipped cross was nodded in by Bradshaw on 67 minutes.

Fulham rallied and went back ahead on 71 minutes when Ojo's cross looped beyond Davies and into the far corner.

Fulham managed to keep hold of the ball in the closing stages and looked the more likely to add to their tally with Ryan Fredericks firing over from close-range.
