MORE help will be available for children affected by domestic abuse after a Barnsley support group received a cash boost to extend its services.

Domestic Abuse Refuge Support Group (Barnsley) has been given a grant totalling £9,999 by the Coalfields Regeneration Trust, a charity which helps former coalfield communities.

As an abuse support group, it offers support to adults and children who are, or have been in the Barnsley refuge, providing counselling, family support and other services relating to domestic abuse, as well as befriending.

The funding will be used to cover the salary and costs of a part-time children's play therapist to provide counselling services using techniques that have until now been unavailable to the group.
