A big-hearted Barnsley fundraiser travelled more than 40 miles to sleep rough in a Mansfield church car park and raise money for homelessness charity Framework.

David Price, 31, joined more than 80 others at the ninth annual Mansfield Big Snore.

With just a cardboard box and plastic sheet for shelter, David settled down for a night under the stars.

He said: “As a drug worker I see the consequences of homelessness every day. I have never done anything like this before but I have come into contact with Framework on numerous occasions for work and I know they do a great job with homeless people.

“When I see people seeping rough for real I just think ‘there but for the grace of God go I. I wanted to challenge myself to see what it was like for just one night and to raise money to help people who have to do it for real.

Dave, of Coronation Street, Darfield,  who has pledged to raise more than £100 for the charity, said: "Nobody should have to sleep rough for real but they are because of what is going on in society at the moment. This is my way of doing something to help.”
