EVEN more children with serious illnesses can enjoy family holidays thanks to a foundation set up in memory of a little girl from Barnsley.

The Lily Grace Cunliffe Foundation has been presented with a cheque for £2,808 following a 67-mile charity bike ride from Cleethorpes to the Sandhill Tavern pub at Great Houghton.

Lily died from a brain tumour aged three - just days before she would have turned four.

Grandad Danny Beever and the rest of the family set up the foundation in her name to help send youngsters suffering serious and life-limiting illnesses and their families on holidays together.

“We wanted something good to come out of losing Lily,” said Danny, of Willow Close, Hoyland.

“There were 24 who did the bike ride, all people who go to the pub. We had an event at the pub while they were doing it ready for when they got back.

“It really means a lot. The money will really help to provide holidays for families who would otherwise not be able to get away. It just gives them something to look forward to, and a bit of a break and time together.”

The families usually go to the Lake District, or to Filey.
