SOUTH Yorkshire’s newest online radio station hosted an event with Barnsley FC’s chief executive to raise money for the Yorkshire Air Ambulance.

The Vibe, supported by Barnsley College, hosted the evening where Gauthier Ganaye talked about his role within the football club, and was also joined by Barnsley FC’s academy manager, Bobby Hassell, and Under 23s head coach Martin Devaney.

Attendees took the opportunity to ask questions and network with other Barnsley FC fans.

The event raised more than £250 for the Yorkshire Air Ambulance on behalf of Barnsley FC fan, Steve Croft, the volunteer who suffered a heart attack at Oakwell in September.

He was saved by medical staff from both clubs as well as paramedics before being airlifted to hospital by the air ambulance - which landed on the pitch in full view of thousands of fans.

“The Yorkshire Air Ambulance is run by voluntary donations and it costs over £12,000 a day to keep both of Yorkshire Air Ambulance’s helicopters maintained and in the air,” said Steve.

“It was a brilliant event and the support from Barnsley FC and the college has been amazing.”

Radio co-ordinator for The Vibe, Lee Barber, said: “It was great to see so many fans attend the evening.

“A big thanks to Carlo, Chris and Kyle for hosting, and for the technical staff who worked tirelessly to ensure it went ahead as smoothly as possible.

“We’re looking to put on a similar event at the end of the football season to review the year.

“In the meantime, listen to the Reds Report every Wednesday from 5pm on The Vibe.”
