A gas engineer says he has lost his livelihood after his van was stolen along with more than £10,000 of specialist equipment.

 

Lee Taylor-Winder, had his van taken when he parked up outside his girlfriend's home in Ladywood Road, Grimethorpe, on Saturday afternoon.

 

He said it happened at about 5.30pm and has lost specialist items including gas flow analysers and at least £1,000 in hand tools.

 

Neighbours have CCTV footage of the incident and Lee's girlfriend says two men were involved, one of which was wearing a green Adidas hoodie.

 

Lee said there was also as scrap van in the area at the time and has been driving around looking for the vehicle.

 

On Monday police recovered Lee's Ford Transit Van in Monk Bretton, which he says is worth about £8,500.

But he says the doors have been ripped off and three tyres have been ripped.

 

"They've caused me an absolute nightmare," Lee, 37, said.

 

"You go to work, you do an honest day's work and you just don't expect your livelihood to be taken away from you like that."

 

Lee, who is self-employed, has had to cancel all his jobs for the rest of the week and said police were analysing the vehicle for forensic clues.
