Kingstone footballer Beth England has her first medal as a Chelsea Ladies player but could be bringing home some international silverware next week.

The young Chelsea Ladies star was an unused substitute as the Londoners won the Spring Series following a 2-0 win over Birmingham City on Saturday, which was also her 23rd birthday.

The spring series was an interim league tournament aimed at bridging the gap between two seasons with women's football switching to a mostly winter season from September.

Whereas previous campaigns had ran throughout the summer months, the game's expansion will now see women's football mirror the men's game and run until May.

England, who made the move to the capital from Doncaster Rovers Belles last year, was delighted that she will go down as a winner of the one off tournament.

She said: "It's the first bit of silverware for me finally.

"It (the game) was a great one to be a part of especially with it being on my birthday and that there will never be a Spring Series again. So in a way it was more special. It was an amazing day.

"The girls did the job in the end and that's all that mattered to me."
