A GRIEVING daughter whose dad died while on holiday in Spain has been told she will have to pay £6,000 to bring his body home because he didn't have travel insurance.

Steve Barry, 50, of Manchester, died on Monday while on holiday in Benidorm. As his next of kin, daughter Katie Exley, of Athersley North, is responsible for bringing him home. But the 24-year-old, who works at Quest Hair and Beauty at the Metrodome, is facing a desperate struggle to meet the £6,000 cost.

To help raise the cash two of her customers, Nicola Hamblett and Charlotte Wood, have set up a GoFundMe page called 'Help Katie get her dad home'. By yesterday morning it had raised £2,700 in donations from 138 people, in just 24 hours.

Katie wants to raise awareness for others who may find themselves in the same position as her, where a loved one dies abroad without travel insurance. She said next of kin need help, especially when the next of kin is their child.
