A GRIMETHORPE care home’s residents will have to find a new place to live because there’s not enough demand for it to remain open, according to its owners.

Hall Steads, which provides elderly people with 24-hour care at its 90-bedroom facility on Stacey Crescent, has been axed by Bupa Care Homes, which run the service.

Ruth Yates, area director for Bupa Care Homes, said: “We regularly review our homes to ensure they can provide the standard of care our residents expect. We have taken measures to address the low occupancy of the home in the past, which included closing a unit in 2012.

“A recent review has shown that there simply isn’t enough demand for the home in the local area for it to continue to operate.”
