COMMUNITY groups in Barnsley are being encouraged to apply for a share of a £5,000 community fund.
The Sheffield Mutual Friendly Society's fund is specifically targeted at helping local communities and is now open to applications.
Donations are are available for amount up to £1,000 so long as the donation benefits a South Yorkshire community.
Last year, groups including Barnsley Beacon, Barnsley Starter Packs, Barnsley Little Stars, Barugh Club and Scout Group, Worsbrough Common Football Club and Age UK Barnsley all benefited.
