TWO Barnsley groups have been honoured with an award from the Duke of York after being recognised as an inspiration to their community.

Sara’s Flowers and Tea Rooms has received the Duke of York’s Community Initiative award in recognition of the work they do to support the homeless and poverty stricken across Barnsley.

Owner of Sara’s Flowers and Tea Rooms and poverty campaigner, Sara Headley, 48, said: “We were nominated by one of our regular customers. It was really great to be recognised for the work we do because we all work so hard, it’s seven days and nights a week and we often give up our social life.”
