Jose Morais says he will be willing to reintroduce Adam Hammill into the first team picture when the Barnsley legend 'gives me something that will help the team.'

The 30-year-old winger started Morais' first game as head coach but he was substituted early in the second half and has been left out of the next five squads. Fan favourite Hammill has played 191 games, scoring 26 goals, in two spells at Oakwell and netted in both Wembley finals as the Reds won the Johnstone's Paint Trophy and League One play-offs two seasons ago.

But he has struggled to make the same impact since the return to the Championship, in which he has not scored in more than 50 games across 17 months.    He will be hoping to follow the example of fellow winger Lloyd Isgrove who was described by Morais last week as 'not an option' but has returned as a substitute for the last two matches.

Asked about his freezing out of Hammill, Morais said: "I would like to speak about the players who were involved but I have no problems to say that Adam is a player in our squad.

"On the day that he will give me what the team needs and he will give something that will help the team, I will be very happy to use him like anyone else in the squad."
