RESIDENTS with district heating systems are set to see their bills come down when the council reduces the price of heat.

Council leader Sir Steve Houghton said those on district heating schemes, which means they share heat from the same source, would see the price per kilowatt reduced from 11 pence to 9.5 pence.

It follows a review of the charges of all schemes and is expected to be approved by the council’s ruling cabinet in the next few weeks.

The review followed a meeting in March which was attended by more than 40 residents.

They were angered by the council’s plans to increase the price and said they were too afraid to put on their heating.
