A FUND-RAISING evening for the ‘Kes’ statue appeal will be held at a town centre pub tonight.

The Garrison will host ‘a trip down memory lane’ with Dave Cherry, Milly Johnson, and Ronnie Steele.

Dave is a comedy songwriter famous for his Stairfoot Roundabout song, as well as a local historian. Milly Johnson is a novelist and Chronicle columnist, and Ronnie Steele is a former teacher and former pupil of ‘Kes’ author Barry Hines, who came up with the idea of the statue.

The event will feature some behind the scenes clips of the 1969 film on the big screen as well as performances including Dave Cherry and Steve Riley, guitarist and vocalist Darren Knight, and Judy Collings.

The event starts at 7.30pm tonight (Wednesday) at the Garrison, Hanson Street.
