A HORRIFIED mum was left stranded after her young children were inadvertently locked in her car for an hour and a half in a supermarket car park.

Jaki Mallinson visited Penistone Tesco with son Georgio, six, three-year-old daughter Milli and family friend Grace, also three.

After completing her shopping, Jaki returned to her Audi Q5 and then accidentally shut her keys in the boot with the youngsters already inside the car.

The children tried in vain to unlock the doors before passers-by, the police and an Audi representative joined the effort to help the despairing mum.

Police officers eventually smashed one of the car's windows when the children became too distressed.
