A 'gentle and kind-natured' hospice worker who helps children deal with the loss of a loved one has been put forward as a children's champion in the Proud of Barnsley awards.
Zoe Dransfied has worked at the Barnsley Hospice for 13 years.
She initially worked on the inpatient ward as an auxiliary nurse, but later trained in bereavement work. She now helps struggling children and young people aged between five and 18 to deal with their grief and loss.
She has been nominated by her colleague, Zoe Mitchell, who said in her nomination: "The work Zoe conducts at the hospice with children and young adults is a such a vital and important role within the family team and wider hospice community. Zoe' s gentle and kind-nature is so well suited to working with children who are struggling to manage difficult feelings associated with loss and grief. She is a natural and can relate to children of all ages and background, putting them at their ease at such a difficult time."
