AGEING car parking equipment in Barnsley Hospital’s staff and public car parks is due to be replaced by the end of this month.

The equipment has recently been suffering frequent failures.

Minor disruptions are expected, and the hospital is asking people to allow extra time when visiting or have an appointment.

Lorraine Christopher, managing director of Barnsley Facilities Services, said: “There should be very minor disruption while the work is carried out.

“However, visitors should be aware that contractors will be working within the entrance and exit areas of the car parks but security staff will be on the site to provide assistance with any issues or enquiries that might arise.”

The existing entry and exit barriers, and pay stations will be replaced later this month with work commencing on:

- Tuesday March 19, car park 3 accessed from Gawber Road

- Wednesday and Thursday March 20 and 21, car park 1 accessed from Pogmoor Road

- Friday March 22 on the car park 2 with accesses on Summer Lane and Pogmoor Road.
