A MEMORIAL service will be held at Barnsley Hospital in memory of babies who have died.

The annual service will take place in the hospital chapel on Sunday October 14 at 2pm. A remembrance activity will be held in the memorial garden, and afternoon tea will be served in the chapel afterwards.

Next week is also Baby Loss Awareness week, the end of which is marked by the National Wave of Light. It will take place on Monday October 15 at 7pm, where people are asked to light a candle and leave it to burn for one hour in memory of babies who have died during pregnancy or shortly after birth.

Hospital maternity staff will be giving tea-light candles to staff and also women who attend the unit and community appointments between October 9 and 15.
