HOSPITAL security staff have been getting to grips with new police-style cameras that will capture violence and aggression against staff and patients.

Guards at Barnsley Hospital underwent training this week on how to use the devices, which are fixed to their uniforms whenever they are on patrol.

The cameras are about the size of a cigarette packet and are worn on the chest. They can record hours of video and audio which can be used as evidence in court.

The hospital has invested more than £4,500 on cameras for a team of 12 security guards to reduce antisocial behaviour, violence and aggression on hospital premises.
