STAFF on the chemotherapy ward at Barnsley Hospital have been nominated by a wife for the 'fantastic and amazing' care they gave to her husband.

Harry Brown was diagnosed with Hodgkin lymphoma in January and has recently had chemotherapy treatment at the hospital.

His wife Pamela, 64, of Low Grange Square, Thurnscoe, said she could not speak highly enough of the staff.

She added: "Everyone was absolutely fantastic. I won't hear a bad word about Barnsley Hospital, and if I do I will set people straight."

Pamela said the staff not only treated Harry, 68, but also supported her and their two sons.

"Nothing was too much trouble for them. They were so friendly and their smiley faces when you walked though the door were so uplifting."To me, that's part and parcel of caring for people.

"I really hope they do get this award. Where would we be without them?"
