Barnsley have completed the signing of Plymouth Argyle midfielder Conor Hourihane on a three-year deal for an undisclosed fee.

The 23-year-old Irishman was on the books at Sunderland and Ipswich before joining the Pilgrims where has scored 16 goals in 142 games over three seasons, the last two as captain.

"Barnsley is obviously a very appealing club for me to come to," said Hourihane.

"They are ambitious to go straight back up to the Championship and that's something I want to be part of."

Hourihane is the third signing for Barnsley this summer following Cowdenbeath striker Kane Hemmings and former Sheffield Wednesday goalkeeper Adam Davies.
