HOUSEHOLDERS have been briefed with details of how to object to plans for a new housing estate which has escalated fears of flooding and traffic congestion.

Planning permission was granted for 35 new homes on a field bounded by Pilley Green and Lidgett Lane in Pilley, but on an ‘outline’ basis, meaning that specific details of the development would have to be approved later.

Those proposals were the subject of widespread objections but now the developer has suggested an increase in the number of homes on the site, with a proposal to build 54 homes instead of 35.

That would include flats and Tankersley Parish Council is to lodge its objections, along with Barnsley Councillor Robert Barnard, who represents the area.
