PLANS to build three new homes on a disused paddock near Silkstone church is likely to affect protected species of wildlife which are known to exist in the area, planners have been told.

The information is contained in a report submitted to Barnsley Council as part of an application for permission to put three houses on the site, off Barnsley Road.

That has been made by Adam Richardson, of Lower Coates Farm in Blacker Green Lane and is an outline application, which would only establish the principle of putting three homes there, along with an new access onto Barnsley Road, with the fine details of the size, design and layout of the properties to be decided later.
