ASPIRATIONAL plans for Hoyland town centre including an 80-space car park, new permanent market stalls and new shops are expected to be submitted to Barnsley Council in early May.
The council has been working for more than a year with developer Resilienti on the scheme.
A council spokeswoman said: "Proposals are being put together for a redevelopment which will bring the market back into the heart of Hoyland.
"This aspirational project will see enhancements to the public square, a new set of permanent market stalls and a mix of food and non-food retail units."
An 80-space car park on the site of the former health centre will replace current spaces behind the markets and town hall.
Coun Robin Franklin, cabinet support member, corporate services, said: "There is already an active civic hub at the Hoyland Centre which houses a health centre, council offices and library. This redevelopment project will reintroduce the high street feel to Hoyland and draw people into the town centre."
