TWO new businesses could be on the way for the centre of Hoyland, following decisions by planners at Barnsley Council to allow the change of use of two buildings.

They have granted permission for a shop which has stood unoccupied for some years in West Street to be converted for use as a veterinary surgery, following an application by Tony Duffy, of Dodworth Road-based Abbey Veterinary Group, in Barnsley.

A former vehicle repair workshop, which operated at the top of Duke Street until recently, has also been given the go-ahead for conversion to provide a children’s day nursery.

The existing building will be extended, to provide the facilities needed for caring for different age groups of children.
