Hundreds dusted off their household treasures and family heirlooms and queued in the rain to see experts from the Antiques Roadshow.

Presenter Fiona Bruce and her band of antiques and fine arts specialists visited Wentworth Woodhouse near Rotherham yesterday to film for the 36th series of the BBC TV show.

Fiona said: "Every week is different - a new location and thousands of new visitors.

"The only constant is the pleasure of the unexpected, we never know what will turn up, from the most fabulous Faberge egg to the most humble object with a riveting story."

Scores of experts were on hand to offer free advice and valuations to visitors, who had raided their attics to take along their family heirlooms, household treasures and car boot bargains for inspection by the experts.

One of those who queued was Karen Scott, 46, from Mexborough. She had taken along a painting and an old smoking pipe that belonged to her father.

"We took a painting and it wasn't worth anything but I'm glad I went though.

"I like watching the show and my friend came with me and she enjoyed it and we had a laugh.

"I was tempted to say the painting was worth a £1 million though."
