A FATHER will climb eight 3,000ft hills in two days to raise money for a charity which has provided his family with years of support after their son contracted pneumococcal meningitis as a baby.

Sam Dobson was just ten weeks old when he was diagnosed with the infection which causes swelling of the brain.

Sam survived and is now a 15-year-old Greenacre pupil. But he was left with brain damage and couldn’t speak until he was seven.

Over the years, Meningitis Now (formerly Meningitis Trust) has provided Sam and his parents Mark and Lorraine with help and support, sensory toys, safety features for their house, counselling and family fun days out.
