INTERNET sales of legal highs could soon be outlawed under a blanket ban by government following a campaign by Barnsley MP Dan Jarvis.

He has fought against the sale of 'psychoactive substances' and the ban came as a result of a review ordered by the Home Office.

Mr Jarvis met with Home Office minister Lynne Featherstone MP on Wednesday to discuss when and how the ban will come into force and was told it would extend to online sales.

He said: "The minister said they are doing everything they can to bring the ban in before Parliament recesses for the general election. But she's confident if that doesn't happen, whoever is in power in May will be able to do it from day one.

"She is also confident it will extend to online retail outlets. Not only will you be able not to buy it in shops but you won't be able to buy it online. This however, is more difficult to do."
