VIRGIN Media worked late into the night to get residents in the area back online on Wednesday - after a telecommunications cabinet was struck in a hit and run.

Engineers arrived on Cross Lane, Royston, at 8am the next morning and worked with the police and Northern Power to make sure everything was completed safely.

Adam Rigby, principal network engineer at Virgin Media, said: “Replacing the cabinet was a mammoth task but thanks to a tremendous team effort, our engineers worked non-stop to get customers online as quickly as possible while keeping their distance from each other and the public.

“The service we provide for our customers plays a crucial part in keeping the country running and has never been more vital.”
