A TEENAGER who suffered catastrophic injuries after falling on ice in a freak accident is looking forward to the arrival of his first baby.

Jack Mitchell-Ryan, 21, slipped in Barnsley town centre five years ago and his parents were warned he would never walk properly again.

But Jack has proved the doctors wrong and, despite struggling, has gone on to learn to walk and talk again and is looking forward to the birth of his baby in June.

He studied A levels at Barnsley College, and is now at Leeds university studying politics. He hopes to write for a newspaper one day.
