AROUND 20 jobs have been saved at the former Galglass site and talks are still ongoing to re-employ other staff.

The galvanised steel tank manufacturer on Hough Lane, Wombwell, entered administration a fortnight ago and the number of jobs was slashed from 134 to a skeleton staff of 11.

Some have already returned after the Aberdeen-based Balmoral Group completed a takeover of the assets and property last week.

They will rebrand as part of their Balmoral Industrial Tanks Ltd chain.

"The administrators paid everybody off but we have re-recruited about 20 people so far," said Allan Joyce, managing director of Balmoral Tanks.

"The directors that have come back are currently teling us with who should return.

"We could very quickly get up to 50 people if we get two contracts that we are currently chasing."

Administrators Duff and Phelps arranged the sale.

Administrator Keith Marshall added: "Balmoral will look to re-employ some of the people made redundant when Galglass entered administration, and use these assets as a route to expand their business through the wider product range they will be able to take to market."
