A CAREERS event will take place tomorrow ahead of a state-of-the-art NHS facility’s opening next summer.

The new centre, located at Capitol Park, Dodworth, will distribute blood products, deliver laboratory services and offer the opportunity to create new advanced cell therapies, supporting NHS patients across the north of England.

The careers event, which will be held at the Digital Media Centre in Barnsley town centre from 10am until 4pm, is being supported by the NHS, Barnsley Council and Barnsley College.

Leaders behind the day are looking to attract students from any age as a chance to learn about the range of roles that the centre will host and how they can gain a pathway into a future career.

Coun Tim Cheetham, cabinet spokesman, said: “We’re delighted to reach this advanced stage with the NHS as they move closer to becoming operational at Capitol Park next year.

“We are working closely to support ways in which people in Barnsley can learn about the employment opportunities that will be available at this state-of-the-art facility, as well as how we can support people to secure employment in the future.”
