BARNSLEY’S Best Bar None scheme is looking to grow its membership this year, with the opportunity for town centre pubs, clubs and bars to be part of the scheme.

Those who take part in the scheme will also be in the running for an award for their commitment later in the year.

In a new move this year, there will be a best dining experience category, so restaurants are also encouraged to take part.

Coun Jim Andrews, cabinet spokesman for public health, said: “The Best Bar None Best Dining Experience category aims to promote healthier options among restaurants.

“The benefits of participation in the scheme for food businesses will include all the benefits of the BBN scheme, as well as helping food businesses meet the increasing demand for healthier and more environmentally conscious food consumption.”

Best Bar None is an Accreditation Scheme supported by the Home Office which is aimed primarily at promoting responsible management and operation of alcohol licensed premises.

There are currently 22 venues in the town centre signed up for the 2019 Best Bar None scheme in Barnsley, with plans to engage with others.
