HIS friends welcomed him home with a hero’s welcome - and boy did he earn it.

When Jonathan Booth set himself a challenge to ride a bike almost 1,000 miles from John O’Groats to Land’s End in just 15 days,

And his friends thought he would never do it.

But Jonathan - who is suffering from terminal cancer and had not ridden a bike since he was a lad - proved them wrong and then some.

For not only did the brave 36-year-old from Robert Avenue, Monk Bretton, hit his target - he smashed it.

He surprised everyone by finishing last Saturday night, a day earlier than he thought he would, raising thousands of pounds for the Weston Park Cancer Charity in the process.
