A KENDRAY woman with three seriously ill children has taken on a new role for a children's charity to help mums in similar situations.

Rachel Dickinson, 38, of Redhill Avenue, felt that she had nowhere to turn when she needed support caring for her youngest son Emil, five, who has to sleep with the aid of a ventilator and is tube-fed as a result of a lung problem that developed when he was nine months old.

Rachel, whose daughters Emmy, 13, and Niamh, 14, also have serious health issues, got involved with the charity Lagan's Foundation when she read about it online.

Rachel's role in the charity is primarily to raise awareness of the need for better community support. She has worked with community nurses, and the Barnsley Parents and Carers Forum.
