DETECTIVES are appealing for two members of the public who helped an 22-year-old man who had been kidnapped and beaten before being dumped at Manvers Lake to come forward.

The two members of the public reportedly found the man at around 2am on Saturday June 17 and took him to the fire station on Manvers Way, where emergency services were called. 

Officers are keen to trace and speak to them as part of the ongoing investigation.

The 22-year-old reported he had been kidnapped from Church Street, Swinton, in the early hours of Saturday morning and then allegedly assaulted before being taken to the boating lake. Two 24-year-old men have been charged in connection with the incident. They appeared at court in late June 2017 charged with kidnap and legal proceedings are ongoing. UPDATED: Police have said as a result of the appeal, the two members of the public have now come forward. They thank everyone who shared and came forward to help with the investigation.
