CHILDREN at a Grimethorpe nursery have been doing their bit to keep the older generation young - by replicating a TV show’s success.

Playdays, on Elizabeth Street, teamed up with Angel Court’s staff, a care home on Stacey Crescent in the village and children now visit weekly.

Having watched Channel Four’s Old People’s Home For Four-Year-Olds, Natalie Heilds, manager at Playdays, was inspired to do the same in Grimethorpe.

She said: “It inspired us to create our own version, so we contacted Angel Court and now provide stimulating activities for the old and young to enjoy.

“More importantly they take part in these activities together, meeting every Monday morning to benefit from craft sessions, baking and decorating, exercises and singing birthday wishes to the residents.

“The care home’s loved having the children over and it’s been great to see two generations interacting.”
