A YOUNG woman was so touched by a little girl who died of cancer that she is cutting off 12 inches of hair to raise money for charity.

Jess Hempshall met Aalish Naylor at the Young Champions Awards last year.

Aalish, who was diagnosed with neuroblastoma, won the Young Conqueror award.

But sadly, she died in June, aged eight.

Jess, 21, of Oak Road, Wath, will now have her long locks chopped in memory of Aalish. It will take place at a fundraiser organised by Aalish’s mum Joanne, who is setting up Aalish’s ‘RidetheTheme’ Dream a charity which aims to help other children with neuroblastoma and their families enjoy a day out at a theme park.

Jess said: “I met Aalish at the Young Champions Awards, we were on the same table. She was so lovely and it was really sad the way things turned out.

“I’m donating 12 inches of my hair to raise money for the charity her mum is setting up in her memory.

“The event tomorrow is their first fundraising event. I’m asking people to donate to the fundraising page that Joanne has set up. But I’m also hoping that if people see me there, they will put something in the collection buckets.”

This is the third time Jess has cut her hair and donated it to the Little Princess Trust which makes wigs for poorly children.

n The race night, raffle and auction will be held at Tappers Sports Bar in Dodworth tomorrow from 7pm.
