Barnsley lost to an injury-time goal in their South Yorkshire derby at Doncaster Rovers on Saturday.
The Reds had more posession and chances throughout but, after Sam Winnall drew them level on the hour, Richard Chaplow fired in Doncaster's winner in the 91st minute.
Head coach Lee Johnson kept the same team that beat Gillingham 2-0 at Oakwell the prrevious week. The only change was on the bench where Joe Rothwell replaced Conor Wilkinson.
Barnsley were the better team in the first half but failed to test home goalkeeper Thorsten Stuckmann. Kadeem Harris, the most lively player on the pitch, missed a fine chance to put the visitors ahead when he blazed well over ten yards out after cutting past a defender in the box.
But it was Rovers who took the lead when Keshi Anderson turned in Chaplow's right-wing cross from a few yards out on 35 minutes.
Barnsley began the second half well and levelled after 60 minutes when Winnall's header from a Conor Hourihane corner looped over Stuckmann and into the net.
Dany N'Guessan headed a good chance over for Doncaster then Harris went through for Barnsley but Stuckmann produced a good save with his left leg.
Barnsley later changed to 3-5-2 - with Harris and Marley Watkins as wing-backs - after a triple substitution saw the introduction of Michael Smith for George Smith, Dan Crowley for Josh Scowen and Marc Roberts for Reece Wabara.
Harris' low shot was turned round his right post by Stuckman who then easily caught Alfie Mawson's header from the resulting Hourihane corner.
But it was the Rovers who won it when Chaplow was played through on the right of the box and fired in at the near post.
