A LICENSEE is furious police failed to catch suspects after a man was knocked unconscious in his bar despite a police ‘riot van’ having been just 25 metres away when it happened.

Glynn Holt instructed door staff to summon police after an incident in his Wellington Street Bar Voudou.

But he was dismayed when he was told the van drove away in the opposite direction and officers didn’t arrive at the venue for several minutes.

“You can see on the CCTV the doorman run off to tell them, they were literally 25-metres away from our door, but they didn’t actually come to Voudou for about nine minutes.

“In that time you can see the suspects on our CCTV, still trying to get back in, arguing with door staff, fighting in the street.

“The police were just there, if they’d got straight out of their van and run over, they’d have caught them.”
