A LIFESAVING defibrillator machine has been installed in a Barnsley convenience store and petrol station ready for any future local emergency,
Central England Co-operative has used the money raised by the 5p carrier bag charge to pay for the new machine at its store and filling station at Carlton.
A spokesman said an estimated 100,000 people die from sudden cardiac arrest in the UK each year and, while CPR saves the lives of about nine per cent, if CPR is used alongside a defibrillator the chance of survival increases to 50 per cent.
