MORE than 140 fines for littering were dished out by enforcement officers during a three month period.

The Central Area Council - which covers the Kingstone, Stairfoot, Central, Dodworth and Dodworth wards - employs enforcement officers through a contract with Kingdom to target people who drop litter or allow their dogs to foul without cleaning up.

A report given to councillors on Monday showed 152 fines were issued between October and December by those officer and of those 146 were for littering and six for dog fouling.

That brings the total number of fines given out to more than 2,800 since the contract began in August 2014, with 581 of these issued since April 2017.

Area council manager Carol Brady also told members dog fouling operations had been carried out in the Gordon Street area of Stairfoot as complaints had increased and that a fine was issued to the main offender.
