A LOCAL actor will return to TV on Sunday in the first episode of the hit ITV series Vera.
Kenny Doughty, originally from Wombwell, will return to his role as DS Aiden Healy in the ninth series of the TV drama.
The opening episode, titled Blind Spot, explores the case of Joanne Caswell, a newly qualified forensic psychologist working in Newcastle.
When her body is found dumped on a landfill site far from home Vera and Aiden find out that she had been looking into a crime for a former patient who had just recently committed suicide.
Together they must follow the trail Joanne left behind to uncover her killer.
Vera is on Sunday night at 8pm on ITV1.
