Elsecar suffered their second local derby defeat in as many weeks as they were soundly beaten at Houghton Main in the South Yorkshire Championship.

Houghton posted 255 for six thanks to 60 from opener Michael Brown, Tanzeel Ali's unbeaten 58 off 51 balls and 50 off 28 from Yousaf Rehman who whacked four fours and four sixes. Michael Bates then took three wickets as Elsecar, who lost to Wath the previous week, slipped to 112 for eight before the ninth pair added 38 to avoid an outright defeat.

South African Shawn Dyson smashed 94 not out off 85 balls as Wath beat local rivals Darfield to record back-to-back victories for the first time this season. Darfield recovered from 97 for five to post 219 for six thanks to James Ward (72) and Michael Topp who then both claimed two wickets but Dyson smashed 11 fours and four sixes as Wath reached their target with five wickets down.

Ben Dalton bashed 96 not out as sixth-placed Rockingham won at home to fifth-placed Barnsley 2nd XI in Division One. Kexborough’s Michael Jepps claimed five for nine off his eight overs as they bowled Rotherham Town 2nd XI for 78 in an eight-wicket win.

In the Pontefract League, Josh Abson smashed an unbeaten 153 and Lee White took seven wickets as Stainborough won at home to Knottingley in Division Three.

Lee Ogden smashed 118 not out off 119 balls as Monk Bretton chased down Hooton Pagnell’s 211 for a seven-wicket Division One home win.

Darton went back on top of Division Three with victory in their top-of-the table clash at previous leaders Hundhill Hall. Darton’s Ben Wood (four for 18) and Jordan Hunter (four for 11) bowled the hosts out for 89 defending 176. Duan Kapp claimed seven wickets as Notton bowled Rossington out for 56 in a seven-wicket success.

Liam Wiles took four for 17 then hit an unbeaten 46 as Huddersfield League Championship leaders Cawthorne skittled Lascelles Hall for 81 in an eight-wicket success. Hoylandswaine skittled visitors Moorlands for 162 in an eight-wicket Premiership home win.
