Athersley Recreation will not be hosting local rivals Shaw Lane Aquaforce in the FA Cup qualifying after they crashed to a 1-0 defeat at Alsager Town in the first qualifying round on Saturday.

Meanwhile, Aquaforce made a great start to their first season in the EvoStik Division One South with a late 2-1 success at Tividale. The Ducks trailed after 89 minutes but Lee Bennett levelled then Gibraltar international Adam Priestley scored an injury-time winner.

Worsbrough Bridge made it two wins from two away games in the Northern Counties East League Division One. They triumphed 2-0 at Rossington Main with the goals coming from Oliver Fearon and Jack Portman within seven first half minutes.

In the County Senior League, Wombwell Main won the opening day Barnsley derby 3-0 at Kingstone United in Division One on Saturday. Scott Smith, Daryl Smith and Kyle Wyatt scored for Wombwell. North Gawber Colliery made a great start after promotion to the Premier Division with a 2-0 success at Athersley Recreation reserves. Luke Marsden and Carey Welford netted for Gawber.
