A GOLDTHORPE granddad has completed a back-breaking cycle ride and climb in memory of his son and has raised hundreds of pounds for charity in the process.

Dave Daw, 54, cycled from his house in Goldthorpe to the national three peaks of Snowdon, Scafell Pike and Ben Nevis. He also scaled all of the peaks - the three highest in the United Kingdom - in a mammoth effort.

It took him 11 days to complete the 627 mile challenge but it was all worthwhile with money raised for the British Heart Foundation.

Dave, of Lawnwood Drive, lost his son Nick, 21, in March 2009, to a heart condition and was determined to do something of this nature in tribute.
