A MOTHER who was diagnosed with breast cancer has put her speedy recovery down to a new-found love of swimming.

Sally Johnson, 44, of Sheffield Road, Penistone, has taken to swimming regularly with her nine-year-old son Max to reduce the side effects of her treatment and to keep fit.

The pair swim at the Metrodome several times a week and Sally believes it has been a major factor in her recovery since her diagnosis in February.

She said: “Swimming has absolutely changed my life. Not only has it been a great way of combating the fatigue caused by my treatment, but it’s also been a fantastic way for me and Max to bond.

“It’s become something we really look forward too and a great coping mechanism for the both of us.”
