A GRIMETHORPE woman who is on the road to recovery after battling breast cancer has raised more than £700 for charity.

Caroline Kearford hosted a garden party at her Wiseley Croft home on Saturday in aid of Breast Cancer Care and although the day went to plan, things were nearly derailed when the 42-year-old’s shower leaked and flooded her house.

“I just didn’t want to cancel the event as people came from all over the place for it so it had to go ahead,” Caroline told the Chronicle. “The flood was quite bad - it ruined a lot of rooms and spoilt the cakes we’d baked beforehand but everyone chipped in and my neighbours were phenomenal.

“Everyone pulled together and ended up having a great day.”
